Handcrafted by Buzze E. and Jay E. . The wood for the sides was cut on or near our farm in Jefferson County, PA. No locally-grown cedar was available. The poplar came from the lower part of the farm where the ground had more moisture. A “DeLuxe Model” call used sides made of hand-selected walnut, curly maple or other woods which came from the farm and other nearby farms.
The cedar wood for the sides and tongue of the calls was brought in from the West.
Our turkey call was handmade in small numbers. Dad and Grandpap built a lot of the tools used to make the calls. Dimensioning of most of the parts was done on a surface sander that they designed and built by themselves.
The calls were handmade from 1964 to about 1972-1974. They are now a collector’s item.
