Replacement Parts for Tony's Turkey Talker

Special Announcement | New Vintage Regular-Grade Tony’s Turkey Talker®

Tony’s Work Shop™ Has A Regular Tony’s Turkey Talker® For Sale Last Updated May 14, 2024 This is the same Tony’s Turkey Talker® turkey call that your Dad and Grandpap used when they took you on your first turkey hunt. Tony’s is the brand they trusted to bring home Thanksgiving dinner. Tony’s has been around for generations. They were Made in USA and have been used by well-fed turkey hunters since 1964. Your Dad and Grandpap may be hoarding theirs but here’s your lucky chance to get this brand new, never sold, turkey call NIB – new-in-box. Tony’s Turkey Talker®s were hand made one-at-a-time between 1964 and 1974. Why buy a recently-manufactured machine-made call when for a few bucks more you can have this vintage call instead? The tone of musical instruments usually improves with age. Think “Stradivarius”. Play it like a fine Gibson, Fender or Martin. Does the tone of a turkey call improve with age? Well, you may soon find out by having a wary old tom turkey sing along with this call. No more of these vintage handcrafted calls will be made. The makers of this call were deceased in 1974 and 1994. Tony’s Turkey Talker® is an unusual and rare two-piece traditional turkey call. It’s The World’s Only Box-and-Bow Turkey Call. With a little practice you’ll be able to make all the sounds you need to call in the big ones. There’s plenty of volume for good range, yet for close-in work you may mute it by sliding your thumb toward the center of the caller.  Play it like a finely made, vintage, expensive guitar. Yet you won’t pay an arm and a leg to bring home a drumstick. When you lift your call out of the box after unpacking it, you’ll see the pattern in the wood. Notice that the wood grain of the front and back are matched. This is just one example of the care that was put into hand crafting these calls, one by one. The call you will receive is a Field Grade Tony’s Turkey Talker® turkey call intended for hunting use. Go ahead, take it into the woods for those situations when other calls just cannot get the job done. It is usable and 100% functional but you may keep it and pass it down as a Collectible as well – the makers are deceased. No more of these vintage calls will be made. The package you will receive includes 5 pieces; the 2-piece call, instruction sheet, chalk and storage box. The bow will come pre-chalked, as all Tony’s calls were. If you would rather have an un-chalked bow, just let me know when you place your order. Be careful when using this call – it’s very powerful. You may want to carry a catcher’s protective face mask in case those lovesick toms come in like a fast ball! This is one call that hasn’t lost its yelp! Don’t go home hungry. For Collectors Only – A Special Announcement From Tony’s Work Shop™

Special Announcement From Tony’s Work Shop™ Last Updated May 12, 2024: Tony’s Work Shop™, the makers of the World-Renowned Tony’s Turkey Talker®, announced news today of a major discovery that could shake the Foundations of the Turkey Call Collecting Community. Uncovered recently at Tony’s World Headquarters was a “DeLuxe Model” Tony’s Turkey Talker®, still residing in its pristine original packaging. Many in the Turkey Call Collecting Fraternity are unaware that such an Item existed. Manufactured in extremely small quantities, the “DeLuxe Model” was never advertised. It was mainly used as a reward or token of the inner sanctum given to those who made a pilgrimage to meet Buzze or Jay at the World Headquarters. The Deluxe Model Tony’s Turkey Talker® Vintage Turkey Call featured above was sold to a lucky collector in the Great State of Tennessee. A similar call may still be available, read on… This is the exact model Tony’s Turkey Talker® that was given to special visitors, those held in high esteem by Buzze or Jay. It was handed directly to the recipient by one of the Founders. This discovery came to light during a recent reorganization at Tony’s World Headquarters. It was kept locked away in sealed storage in a climate-controlled storage facility. It is rumored that a similar model resides among the personal effects of former President Lyndon Baines Johnson. While a few of these “DeLuxe Models” exist in the wild, they rarely change hands, even among the Top Echelon of Collectors. With the exception of this current offer, the current Officers of Tony’s Work Shop™  have never seen one advertised for sale publicly. The “DeLuxe Model”, while being made to the same exacting dimensions of the “Production Model”, had sides made from special hand-selected woods. Remember, Tony’s Turkey Talker® is The World’s ** ONLY **  “Box-and-Bow” Turkey Call. Earl Mickel rated the Production Model of this call “very collectible” in his “Turkey Callmakers Past and Present, The Rest of The Best”, pp. 222-223, published 1999. How much more valuable will an even rarer “Deluxe Model” be? Tony’s Turkey Talker® has also been featured in “Wildlife in North Carolina” Magazine, May-June 2014, p.7. It has also been featured in a Pittsburgh Press article by Roger Latham on October 25, 1964, page 70; and also appeared in Outdoor Life Magazine, FurFish & Game and Moose Magazine. As you can see, it’s a Classic. Advertised widely during the 1960s, this Call garnered a nationwide following. Testimonials may be viewed here. If you were to purchase this handsome collector’s piece, a Limited Lifetime Warranty, printed on special paper, would be included – of course, at no extra charge. Priced for the Discriminating Turkey Call Collector, this may be the perfect article to complete your collection. This is a rare item that could be presented to a revered associate, or perhaps passed on to a favorite son or daughter as a one-of-a-kind heirloom. This call will be accompanied by special “BluNote™ Chalk” , which helps produce the special timbre that Read more…

Thanks! “Tony III”   PS – here are some pictures from my Dad’s first successful hunt to get things started…                       …yes, that’s me struggling to lift that old gobbler – pics circa autumn 1963…   This is the first gobbler my Dad ever shot and yes, he shot it with a rifle! This was about 1963, so Dad would have been about 37 years old at the time of his first gobbler. You can see the rifle in two of the photos below. It was a scoped Winchester Model 43 in 218 Bee and he used handloads with homemade cast lead bullets to bag this gobbler.  Turkeys were not as plentiful then as they are now. It was a rarity to see turkeys, especially gobblers. We kids had a long weekend from school due to Thanksgiving that year, so Dad bundled the whole family off to the hunting camp we owned in Austin, PA for a combination holiday and turkey hunt. This hunting camp later became the World Headquarters of Tony’s Work Shop™ and Tony’s Turkey Talker®. We had been to town in Coudersport, PA and were returning back to the camp late on Saturday afternoon. Dad decided to go up over the back roads to the 4-way junction of Little Moores Run Road, Black Diamond Road and Southwoods Road, for just “one more try” before turkey season closed for the year. At that time there was an open field near the road junction so Dad left us sitting in the car while he investigated that field on foot. We heard a shot and the rest is history. The shot was about 150 yards. He hit that ol’ gobbler about halfway up the neck. I can still see the bullet hole plumb dead center in that old gobbler’s neck after it was skinned out. Dad had a lot of fun recounting the story of that shot. Whenever he mentioned shooting that turkey in the neck at 150 yards, the listener would invariably remark that that there must have been some luck involved as there wasn’t much area in that neck to ensure a good shot.  Whereupon Dad, with a straight face, always insisted that no luck was involved as there was at least 2 inches of neck ABOVE the bullet hole! No doubt Dad threw in a little drama and also added Read more…

Turkey Call 2024 – the Genuine Tony’s Turkey Talker®

Tony’s Turkey Talker® – The World’s Best Turkey Call 2024 Last Updated:  May 10, 2024 Looking for a Traditional Turkey Call ? You may email “Tony III” at Tony@TonysTurkeyTalker.com ®  Handcrafted by Buzze E. and Jay E. . The wood for the sides was cut on or near our farm in Jefferson County, PA. No locally-grown cedar was available. The poplar came from the lower part of the farm where the ground had more moisture. A “DeLuxe Model” call used sides made of hand-selected walnut, curly maple or other woods which came from the farm and other nearby farms. The cedar wood for the sides and tongue of the calls was brought in from the West. Our turkey call was handmade in small numbers. Dad and Grandpap built a lot of the tools used to make the calls. Dimensioning of most of the parts was done on a surface sander that they designed and built by themselves. The calls were handmade from 1964 to about 1972-1974. They are now a collector’s item. #TheOriginalTonysTurkeyTalker: ® This is what they looked like from Tony’s Factory!!! This is the Genuine Article – accept no substitute!
